TIP #1
First thing you need to do when choosing a hairstyle or before looking through magazines for a new trend is to determine the shape of your face. Each shape has it's own unique characteristics and the hairstyle you choose will either accent your features or hide your features.

Below is a chart of face types and the style that would suit your face shape. If you are unsure of your shape, don't worry! When you come in for your cut and/or color, we will work with you to choose a style that will bring out your beauty!

TIP #2
The most important element, other than choosing your style, is choosing your stylist and the relationship with your hairdresser. You need good communication. We at Looks For You are here as professionals. It is your look and from start to finish we will listen to every concern. If we have suggestions we will talk with you about them, not just do it and hope you like it in the end.

TIP #3
Make upkeep of your style easy on yourself - ask us to show you exactly how to style your hair, what products are best to use, how to hold a blow-dryer, and so on. Again, Looks For You are professionals - don't be afraid to ask.

TIP #4
Start each visit by telling us how the cut worked for you, how your hair is behaving, what is driving you crazy about your hair, what you might want to keep the same, and what you might want to change. We want you to feel and look good! Even when you aren't in our chair!

There are so many tips to great hair and color! We are here to answer any questions you have about them. Contact us anytime to book an appointment!

How to find your face shape:

Using a flexible tape measure, make the following measurements and write down the results:

  1. Across your forehead at the widest place, about half way between your eyebrows and your hairline
  2. Across your cheeks from the edge of one cheekbone to the edge of the other
  3. Around your jawline, between where it’s widest on each side
  4. From our top hairline to the tip of your chin

Compare those numbers. The face shapes are:

  • Round: Approximately as wide as it is long
  • Oval: Greater length than width Long: Length is 1½ times the width
  • Heart-shaped: Wide at the forehead and cheeks and more narrow at the jaw. Often has a pointed chin.
  • Square: Equally wide at the forehead, cheeks and jaw
  • Diamond: Wide at the cheeks and more narrow at the jaw and forehead

OVAL FACE:
As oval is considered to be the ideal face shape it is therefore the most versatile, so nearly every hair style will look good on this face.

ROUND SHAPE:
If you have a round face shape, the goal here is to slim the face. Hair below the chin line should be worn with a face-lengthening center parting.

SQUARE SHAPE:
Your hairstyle should try to soften the sharp angle of your jaw line and minimize a squared-off forehead look.

TRIANGULAR OR PEAR SHAPE:
When choosing a style for this face shape, you should seek on a look that narrows the chin and widens the forehead to balance proportions.

HEART SHAPE:
If this is your face shape, you'll want a hairstyle that extenuates the jaw line and narrows at the eyes. Heart shape faces need a softer, curly style.

OBLONG SHAPE:
For this face shape you should add width and fullness to the sides of the face and around the eyes, cheekbones and ears.
